A day in Cairo

Yesterday, we spent the day at my grandparent's house in Cairo (for those of you that have never heard of Cairo, that's is South Georgia, God's Country!) My grandmother cooked an outstanding lunch for all of us...just to give your taste buds a tease..we ate country fried steak that was cooked in the oven with gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, fresh creamed corn, fresh peas and fresh sliced tomatoes. Chris doesn't exact get that kind of cookin' from my kitchen, so it's nice to be pampered by Gan with her over the top country cookin'! After lunch, we all went to chill on their back deck...as you can see in the photo below, Raz had a great time running around Papa's farm like a wild man...I didn't catch any photos of him running around like a spaz, but I managed to get this photo of him as he was chillin' out. He's so funny!
Papa chillin' after lunch
My Gan (in the blue shirt) and her good friend, Edna (pronounced Ed-ner in South Georgia).
A photo of Papa's garden....corn, peas and not sure what else he's growing, but I know I'll be eating some of it soon!
Papa's grapevines...YUMM-O! There is nothing like picking fresh grapes off these vines and eating them as you walk around the yard...it doesn't get any better than that!
Some of the grapes
Papa's apple tree is FULL of apples...I'm thinking APPLE PIE!
Chris and Papa checking out the grapevines. Check out Papa's pants, he has them rolled up like he's waiting for the flood...the funny thing is, he actually was waiting for the flood. It rained just about all day...it stopped for a couple hours, so we took the opportunity to walk around and check out all the hard work Papa has put into his garden. There's nothing like going to my Gan & Papa's house, I look forward to taking Savannah up to Papa's house so he can teach her how to fish with a cane pole..like he did when I was little. Great times, Awesome memories!

Arctic Air

This photo was too funny not to share. Last weekend my Mom came to Tallahassee to visit with Chris and I...and to also watch my cousin, Dillon's baseball tournament (he's an awesome baseball player!). Anyway, Sunday morning I woke up early to fix us a big breakfast before we started our day...when I walked into to check on Mom, this is what I found...a mummy. I tip-toed into the kitchen to get my camera so that I could take a photo of her completely covered up. I thinking she was bit cold...whatcha think? Chris always says it's "Arctic" in this house, but I always thought he was being a little over dramatic...until I saw Mom wrapped up like this. Needless to say, the first thing Mom and Chris wanted when they woke up was COFFEE!

Baby Savannah update

Today, Chris and I went to see the doctor for our 35 week check up...we'll be 35 weeks pregnant this Thursday. The doctor said that everything is right on schedule and now it's time to start the weekly check ups..we will have our next appointment on July 7 and then we'll start visiting him every week. I don't think I've been to the doctor this much in all my 30 years! The doctor was a bit more concerned about my swelling this visit...I've been swelling really bad for the past 2 months, and now he's acting more concerned. Maybe because my swelling started in my ankles and feet and now it's moving up my leg...so much for muscular legs. Now my knees look like biscuits! But I know it's all for a great reason...in about a month, we'll see our little princess and not even look back on all the aches and pains. A very good friend of mine e-mailed me a song about pregnancy and I just listened to it...it absolutely perfect. I will try to add it to my play list so that you can hear it. It's by Natalie Merchant and the song is titled, "These are the days". Thanks Sarah!

It's a tradition for Chris and I to spend July 4th on the boat, soaking up the sun, watching the crazy boaters on Shell Island act like they don't have a lick of sense and of course, watching the fireworks off the Marina. But this year is proving to be a little difficult..it's a challenge for me to get on the sailboat. However, I'm determined to somehow get on that darn boat to enjoy the long beautiful weekend!

We are almost finished with Savannah's nursery...it's been a challenge to find space for all the clothes this chick has already! It's so much fun to shop for her! My mother and I are having a blast shopping for cute little outfits for Savy...I can't wait to start posting photos of her in all her adorable little outfits...she's already a little fashionista! Ta ta for now!

Me and my honey - Memorial Day 2008

Chris and I were in Panama City over Memorial Day weekend..it's somewhat of a tradition for us to travel back home for any 3 day weekend, so that we can spend every minute on our sailboat..this past Memorial Day was a bit different. I had a baby shower on Saturday and I am a bit to large and unstable to be out on the boat or any boat for that matter...I would end up overboard and it would be a task to get this body back on board. Chris and his dad took the boat out on Saturday and had a great time...then we ended up just chillin' at my parent's house for the rest of the weekend. We did spend some time at the pool..so I managed to get a little "color". This photo was taken at my parents home before we left for a yummy steak dinner with my parents. We had a great time! Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us "crash" at your house!

My new car!

YEP, that's right. I finally got a MOMMY car and I love it! Chris and I had been looking for a larger vehicle for months and months. My old car was on it's last leg, but it served the purpose of getting us from point A to point B. I had that car for 8 years and she was showing her age pretty bad. Mother's Day weekend, we sealed the deal and drove home with our new car...ain't she pretty! I couldn't resist posting a photo of the new car...it's been soooo long since I've had a new car that I'm acting like a little kid at Christmas time. We are looking forward to making sure that Savannah travels "in style" in her Mommy's new ride. It has all the bells and whistles...the gas prices aren't so bad. Chris and I are very lucky to have company cars that take us to and from work...so gas isn't much of an issue at the moment. But traveling to and from our parent's house may prove to be expensive...oh well...gotta do whatcha gotta do, right?

Baby Shower at Delanna's house

My "sister" Delanna hosted a baby shower for me this past weekend at her home in Thomasville...we had so much fun and I learned a BUNCH from all the ladies that came. In the photo below, Laine (Delanna's little girl) gave me a present, a coffee mug...she knows how much I love and will NEED my coffee once Savannah arrives!
My mom bought this adorable pajama set from little Miss Savy...notice...it's not PINK...Chris was surprised when I showed him this outfit and it wasn't pink. The set has dragonflies on it, and it's organic. Chris has become a tree hugger every since we visited South Africa. It's been interesting!
Laine, Delanna and I about to chow down on the yummy treats Delanna and her mom, Pat prepared for the shower...everything was so perfect! Thank you Delanna, I love you so much!

Baby Shower at my office

Some of my dear friends at my office hosted a baby shower for me at our home office in Live Oak. Here are some of the photos from the shower. In the photo below, I'm holding a handmade teddy bear that was monogrammed with Savannah's name....it's so soft and absolutely adorable..it matches her nursery to a TEE!
You can barely see the outfit that I'm holding...but it's a handmade (knitted, I think) dress with a matching hat. It was made by friend Renee's mother..it's precious and I can't wait to see little Savannah wearing it!
Here are the "party planners"....in the Maria, Niki and Kelli! You guys are awesome! Ya'll mean so much to me and I can't thank you enough for the wonderful shower!

Baby shower in Panama City - Memorial Day

Here's the gang...a group shot of all our friends and family that came into for the shower. It was great to see each and everyone of them...it had been some time since I had seen a couple....and what a way to bring friends and family together...a BABY!
Present time...Janey helped me open all the gifts for Savannah!
My dear friend and hostess with the mostess, Sarah! She's a HOOT! In this photo, she's preparing for a little game...not sure what she called it but it was 7 different baby foods that we all had to eat and then guess what each one was...it was a fun game!
Here's the plate of baby food we had to eat during the game, YUMM-O!
I have to explain this photo, cause those of you that are looking at it are probably thinking, "what in the crap is that?" Well, my sister was one of the hostess at this shower, but unfortunately, she wasn't able to make the LONG trip from Texas for the shower....so Sarah wanted to make sure that Lori was "present" at the shower...so Sarah took a photo of Lori and blew it up as large as she could and then tried to make it look like Lori was sitting in the chair enjoying the shower with the rest of us...some of the guest got the joke, some...not so much. But I thought it was GREAT!
Sarah and I after the shower. We had a BLAST at the shower! Sarah, my sister Lori and my mother were the three that hosted the shower at Sarah's beach house. It was absolutely wonderful..I filled up the back of our SUV with bags of goodies...Chris couldn't believe all the presents that we got....we are blessed!

Savannah's hair-do

If you look really close, you can her HAIR! Today, Chris and I went to our 33 week appointment and ultrasound. The doctor said that she looked perfect! She measured exactly 32-33 weeks and weighs 4.6 pounds..what a whooper! It was kinda hard to see her on the ultrasounds this time cause she's much larger than she was 4 months ago when we had our last ultrasound. We have a couple more ultrasounds photos, but it's hard to tell exactly what you are looking at...this photo is a bit easier to see and understand...the black circle is her gorgeous head and the furry stuff around it is her adorable hair! When the nurse said, "oh, there is some hair", I immediately asked, "how much?"...."enough to float" was the response (a bit nasty to think about), but we all know what she meant. Anyway, guess we need to start buying BOWS! Chris and I laughed over the weekend as we were putting up the PINK curtains in her nursery....we said to each other, "would it be something if we went for our ultrasound on Monday and found out that we were having a boy"....we kinda laughed and moved on to the next project...then later on that night, it was obvious that it was in the front of our minds...what IF it's a boy...what are we going to do with all this PINK stuff and dresses, etc.? No, matter what, we would be excited and blessed to have a healthy baby in our arms...he just better look good in pink, hee hee! Anyway, today the nurse confirmed, "Oh yeah, It's still a girl!" The nurse also said that Savy has some long legs...we all know she doesn't get that from her mommy's side of the family...that's straight from her daddy's side! WOW, we only have 7 weeks to go. I have to thank my dear friend, Delanna for spending about an hour on the phone with me last week...I told her that I was really frecked out about labor, etc. She was awesome, she said that's normal...but then she asked, "what exactly are you frecked out about?"....there were many things, but my water breaking was the main concern at the moment...I will not go into the full details of our conversation, but I will tell you that she helped me understand the entire water breaking experience better than a doctor or book could....and for that I am very thankful...thanks D, Love you! This week, I have two showers! WOW, it's amazing to know that you have some really awesome friends...when they come together and shower you with presents for your new baby....you realized that you are loved! I have one at my office on Thursday, and I can't wait! The ladies at my office know how to COOK and have a good time...they are some of the most genuine folks that you will EVER meet and I couldn't be more thankful to them..then my friend, Delanna (the "water breaking story" friend) is throwing one at her home on Saturday! Chris and I appreciate each and every one of you thinking of us during this exciting time in our lives...we can't wait to meet our precious baby girl and look forward to showing her off to each of you. Until next, time, take care!

SNEAK PEAK - Savannah's nursery

Here are the paintings we had made for Savannah's nursery...aren't they adorable! The one below will go above her seven drawer chest, it's a dark mahogany wood. I have changed her bedding THREE times already....but I finally found the perfect bedding that matches these painting to a tee! It's plain and it's PINK! How perfect is that.....I don't have a photo of the bedding...but it's going to look precious with the dark furniture and chair that my parents bought for Savannah's room....Thanks Mom & Dad! Mom and I went this weekend to pick out the coordinating fabric for the chair...it's PINK, just a different texture...are you seeing a theme here...PINK, PINK and more PINK! I'll be posting more photos of the nursery....stay tuned! Oh yeah, I found an artist in Nashville, TN. that paints adorable nursery paintings as well as anything else you might like...for your house...anyway....her website is www.pitterpatterart.com, her name is Laura Kelley and she was a delight to work with!
The trio below are going to be placed above her crib....not sure what order but I know they will look absolutely adorable.
